Vintage California

Although I have no idea the reason why, my great-grandfather took a trip to California and Hawaii in the early 20th century.  I found a post card that he sent to his family in Nebraska City from California and it's so cool.  It's a classic postcard, and I love the family history behind it.  I thought I'd share.

Playdate

C and I got a chance to hang out with Asher and his mom!  Asher has severe food allergies (see thisanaphylacticlife.blogspot.com) and Ash doesn't get to go a lot of places.  We've tried to make our house allergen free for him, but I'm too nervous to bring him inside.  I'm confident in the backyard, however, and make sure the handful of toys we keep out there stay clean as well.  Thank goodness it's summer!  The kids love to play outside and we have playdates as often as we can.  Today some of the shots I got were really great, so here are my faves!

Some random shots...
Love this one of the chair. I want this chair.

The Diner. Omaha Old Market staple.

Retro-action. Love the old school colors.

Sweet ride.

There are these beautiful little flowers on the side of Matsu Sushi downtown Omaha that just seem so out of place. Right between two dirty buildings.

Little Bit

My mind has been resolutely centered on my baby boy, who is still only a little over 10 pounds. He's been in and out of the hospital and will probably be sent to a couple specialists this week. In light of this, I've decided to show you how, despite tests and intrusions into his little body, he is a trooper. He is a joy, loves to smile and make the craziest faces. So here's a bit of my Little Bit.

A Grand Adventure

One great place in the state of Nebraska to visit is the Stuhr Museum. The living history exhibit is awesome. It's fun to walk through history. I snapped some great photos of the church there, built in 1888.

An anatomy lesson...

I know this looks familiar to me, having gone to a one-room school house growing up. Although with obvious differences. I played the old Oregon Trail game on computer (good old floppy disc), and those who went to school here in the 1800's probably took the Oregon Trail or something like it to get to Nebraska.

Looking for lines in downtown Omaha. Playing with the dramatic to bring out the element in the photos.

I always love to photograph rust. It's provides great texture.

I love the stark nature of this photograph.

Asher

Asher was my first toddler shoot. He was a little shy at first. But we got some great shots. When in doubt, hit up a playground. My toddler motto.

Large and In Charge

The past couple of days I've been going through some old shoots and re-editing them. It's fun to see how much I've improved on editing and also to see some of the past work I've done. I remember doing this shoot last year. It was unusually chilly, and I was shooting a family of five. A daunting task, but it turned out so well! The kids were great. They all have such gorgeous big blue eyes, and I loved hanging out with them. These are just some of my favorites from that day.
